John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs he wrote, most of which are set in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired many to visit Colorado. G. Brown the curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said that John Denver was by far one of the most popular performers who embodies Colorado. Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. Many consider Denver to be the image of Colorado. When I travel, I always come across someone on the opposite part of the globe, or someone who is from New Zealand and you say "I'm of Colorado and the first word that comes that comes out of their mouths is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist following a brief time in folk-based groups comprised of Take Me Home Country Roads co-written with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune in the spirit of Johnny Cash, but Denver discovered an early version of the song and realized it was going to be a top 10 hit. After performing the song in Washington D.C. to a massive crowd, Denver made a recording a few days from now.
